Kopi O, kopi C, white coffee: a Singaporean's guide to Malaysian coffee terms

Kopitiam vocabulary is shared across Singapore and Malaysia, but the premix shelf uses the same words in slightly different ways. Here is the decoder.
The base
- Kopi — coffee with condensed milk. Sweet and milky.
- Kopi O — black coffee with sugar. (The O is Hokkien for black.)
- Kopi C — coffee with evaporated milk and sugar; lighter than kopi.
- White coffee — not about the colour of the drink. Ipoh-style white coffee uses beans roasted with margarine and no sugar, giving a smoother, less bitter cup. Premix "white coffee" means that style of coffee plus creamer.
The modifiers
- Kosong — "empty": no sugar.
- Siew dai — less sugar. Gah dai — more sugar.
- Gao — thick/strong. Po — thin/weak.
- Peng — iced.
